"Welcome to Safe Harbor!"
As you wander through our site, you'll learn more about the incredible work being done for our homeless
neighbors through our wonderful vast group of volunteers and Safe Harbor staff. This is a remarkable
community we serve! Take a look at comments in our "Testimonials" section or check out some recent
articles under "In The News" to see what others are saying.
Whether you are new to Safe Harbor or a long time friend, I'm sure you will be happy to know that
we are expanding our services in both quality and quantity. As you can imagine, when times are tough,
our business is brisk.
That said, I am happy to announce that we are about to break ground for construction of an entire second
floor to be used exclusively for single homeless women. Hit the "Construction" button to see our proposed
new home! Most Chester County residents are unaware that there is a homeless population here in the
wealthiest county in Pennsylvania. Even more surprising is that recent estimates indicate that at
any given time there are upwards of 200 single homeless women right here in Chester County!
They are cold, scared and have very few options.
Safe Harbor currently supports twenty-four homeless neighbors ... twenty men and four women.
In fact, our four beds for women are the only four in the entire county for single homeless women.
Clearly we need to respond to this growing need.
That said, Past President Matt Thomas chairs our Construction Team with the help of our entire board
and community leaders. We are raising $1.5 Million for construction and operating costs through our
campaign
"Raise The Roof For Homeless Women - Safe Harbor."
We have made great strides already through County and State grants as well as donations from community
leaders, individuals and Board Members. As you can imagine, though, we have a long way to go.
We understand that during the current environment, generous folks are tightening their belts.
But as you can see, we really need your help.
