Happening just before Thanksgiving, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week is a time for us all to reflect on what we are thankful for. It a perfect opportunity to share our compassion with our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness, and work toward a world where no one has to experience either hunger or homelessness. Safe Harbor of Chester County lives this hope 365 days a year, and your financial support is critical for us to fulfill our mission. As you consider your year-end charitable giving plans, I hope you will remember Safe Harbor. There are many options to choose from: direct mail, online giving through our website, and gifts cards from VISA, Amazon, grocery stores, or other retailers. If you are 70 ½ or older are ready to take your required minimum distribution from your IRA, consider making your RMD payable to Safe Harbor! Donations from an IRA to a charity are excluded from income and you can enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to a worthy local cause while effectively lowering your tax bill. We are so appreciative of all our supporters. If you haven’t been to the shelter in a while, or have never visited us, please stop by say hello and see what’s been happening!
